SPEAKER SERIES PRESENTS GEORGE HOOKS

The Sumter Historic Trust  Speaker Series will continue  on Monday, August 25, at the Lee Council House with a presentation by George Hooks. A longtime public serv ant, George represented the 14th District in the Georgia State Senate from 1991 to 2013, following a decade in the Georgia House of Representatives.

George’s topic for the evening will be the Oak Grove Cemetery, founded in 1856 and operated by the City of Americus. Oak Grove holds generations of local history, and George will offer insights into its notable residents and evolving landscape. The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:00 p.m. The Speaker Series is free for Sumter Historic Trust members and $10 for guests.
